The selective reduction of aryl nitro compounds in the presence of sensitive functionalities, including halide, carbonyl, nitrile, and ester substituents, under ultrasonic irradiation at 35 kHz is reported in yields of 39–98%. Iron powder proved superior to stannous chloride with high tolerance of sensitive functional groups and high yields of the desired aryl amines in relatively short reaction times. Simple experimental procedure and purification also make the iron reduction of aryl nitro compounds advantageous over other methods of reduction. 相似文献

High-intensity ultrasonic standing wave field was established in a horizontal direction and its effect on “gas oil” in “water” emulsion separation rate was studied. Also, effects of four parameters on emulsion instability behavior were investigated: ultrasound irradiation time (5–30 min), emulsion position in ultrasound field (17–37 cm), ultrasound input intensity (20, 45, and 75%) and dispersed phase concentration (0.5, 2, and 10%). Emulsion light absorbance, droplet diameter and distribution were measured to analyze separation efficiency. High-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) signals backscattered from RBL-2H3 cell pellets prepared under different centrifugal forces were analyzed to investigate the packing effect of cell aggregates. The measurements were performed in a pulse-echo setup with a 40-MHz transducer. The changes of ultrasound signals from cell pellet in backscattered power, statistical parameter, and pellet thickness were monitored after centrifugation at between 100g and 1600g. Experimental results showed that the HFUS backscattered power from cell pellets was inversely proportional to centrifugal force and increased to a plateau within 1-2 h after centrifugation. The initial thickness of cell pellets decreased with higher centrifugal force, but the changes in thickness and time that took to reach a plateau increased at higher centrifugal force. The envelope statistics of backscattered signals with Nakagami distribution indicates that the centrifugal force and elapsed time after centrifugation affected the backscattering characteristics. The present study suggests that centrifugal force and data acquisition time after cell pellet formation should be considered in in vitro cell packing method with centrifugation to emulate the tissue in vivo. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of high-intensity low-frequency (20 kHz) ultrasound treatment on the viability of bacteria suspension. More specifically, we have investigated the relationship between the deactivation efficiency and the physical (size, hydrophobicity) and biological (gram-status, growth phase) properties of the microbes. Enterobacter aerogenes, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus epidermidis, S. epidermidis SK and Staphylococcus pseudintermedius were chosen for this study owing to their varying physical and biological properties. The survival ratio of the bacteria suspension was measured as a function of the ultrasound power (up to 13 W) for a constant sonication time of 20 min. Transmission electron microscopy was used to evaluate the ultrasound-induced damages to the microbes. Ultrasound treatment resulted in lethal damage to E. aerogenes and B. subtilis (up to 4.5-log reduction), whereas Staphylococcus spp. were not affected noticeably. Further, E. aerogenes suspensions were more sensitive to ultrasonication in exponential growth phase than when they were in stationary phase. The results of this study demonstrate that the main reason for bacterial resistance to ultrasonic deactivation is due to the properties of the bacterial capsule. Food technologists are always looking to improve the functional properties of proteins. In this sense, in last years ultrasound has been used to improve some functional properties. For this reason, and considering that jumbo squid is an important fishery in northwest Mexico, the purpose of this research was to determine the effect of pulsed ultrasound on the physicochemical characteristics and emulsifying properties of squid (Dosidicus gigas) mantle proteins. Pulsed ultrasound (20 kHz, 20, and 40% amplitude) was applied for 30, 60, and 90 s to a protein extract prepared from giant squid mantle causing an increase (p < 0.05) in surface hydrophobicity (So) from 108.4 ± 1.4 to 239.1 ± 2.4 after application of pulsed ultrasound at 40% of amplitude for 90 s. The electrophoretic profile and the total and reactive sulfhydryl contents were not affected (p ⩾ 0.05) by the ultrasound treatment. The emulsifying ability of the protein solution was improved (p < 0.05), whereas the Emulsifier Activity Index (EAI) varied from123.67 ± 5.52 m2/g for the control and increased up to 217.7 ± 3.8 m2/g after application of the ultrasound. The Stability Emulsifier Index (EEI) was improved at 40% of amplitude by 60 and 90 s. The results suggested that pulsed ultrasound used as pretreatment induced conformational changes in giant squid proteins, which improved the interfacial association between protein-oil phases, thus contributing to the improvement of their emulsifient properties. 相似文献

Effects of thermal and low intensity ultrasound combined with heat (LIUH) pretreatment prior to microwave vacuum drying on enzyme inactivation, color changes and nutrition quality properties of dried daylilies were investigated. The peroxidase (POD), ascorbic acid oxidase (AAO) and polyphenoloxidase (PPO) thermal and LIUH (0.2 and 0.4 W/cm2) inactivation were determined and compared at 70, 80 and 90 °C. Significant reduction in the POD, AAO and PPO activity was seen in daylilies after an ambient LIUH pretreatment than thermal pretreatment. POD, AAO and PPO thermal and LIUH inactivation followed the first order kinetics. LIUH pretreatment had a more positive influence on maintaining color of dried daylilies than thermal pretreatment. Furthermore, LIUH pretreatment resulted in a significant increase in chlorophylls, carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin and β-carotene), and a decrease in degree of browning and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) when compared with thermal pretreatment. The antioxidant activity and contents of several nutritional components of dried daylilies pretreated by LIUH were also higher than that of dried daylilies pretreated by thermal pretreatment. Effects of low-intensity ultrasound (at different frequency, treatment time and power) on Saccharomyces cerevisiae in different growth phase were evaluated by the biomass in the paper. In addition, the cell membrane permeability and ethanol tolerance of sonicated Saccharomyces cerevisiae were also researched. The results revealed that the biomass of Saccharomyces cerevisiae increased by 127.03% under the optimum ultrasonic conditions such as frequency 28 kHz, power 140 W/L and ultrasonic time 1 h when Saccharomyces cerevisiae cultured to the latent anaphase. And the membrane permeability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in latent anaphase enhanced by ultrasound, resulting in the augment of extracellular protein, nucleic acid and fructose-1,6-diphosphate (FDP) contents. In addition, sonication could accelerate the damage of high concentration alcohol to Saccharomyces cerevisiae although the ethanol tolerance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was not affected significantly by ultrasound. 相似文献
